The Brazil international Richarlison was suspended from the game during the Merseyside derby back in October 2020.

Everton striker Richarlison has put forward a theory stating that his apology was not accepted by Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara.

During the Merseyside derby on October 17, the Brazilian was shown the way to the tunnel after a horrific tackle on Thiago. The Toffees and the Reds are known to have an intense rivalry, and the game was the perfect example of it.

The teams drew 2-2 at Goodison Park, but some rash challenges from Everton players took out Thiago and Virgil van Dijk.

However, Richarlison now revealed that his words of care for the Spaniard were washed away just like that. Moreover, he also thinks that there was extra tension between them in their latest meeting at Anfield.

Richarlison spoke with journalist Thiago Asmar during a live talk on YouTube. He said: “The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness,”

“Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said ‘I’m going to delete this message too since he doesn’t want to reply’.

“Then I went there and deleted it. He didn’t answer, no.”

“Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon (Richarlison’s nickname from Brazil).”
