The Real Madrid academy product’s current contract is running down, and his manager believes he deserves to be offered an extension.

Lucas Vazquez put on an enthralling display in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Inter Milan in Wednesday’s Champions League group stage outing.

The winger showed great attacking intent throughout the 90 minutes and even set up his side’s second goal, sending a sublime cross across the box for Rodrygo to drive in.

One of the most versatile players in Los Blancos’ squad, he has made nine starts across La Liga and Champions League this season, playing primarily at right-back.

The 29-year-old has been a reliable servant to Real Madrid over the years but, as things stand, will be out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Amid rumors that his 13-year-long association with Real Madrid is coming to an end, Zinedine Zidane insists Vazquez deserves to be offered a contract extension.

“He always gives everything for us. I have always valued him and what he gives to us on the pitch,” Zidane told Movistar+, via Goal.

“Now he is having the opportunity to show us what he is all about. He was a youth player for us and has Madrid in his heart. I’m happy for him and the team.

“He is an important player and the club knows it. I think it will happen that he will renew.”
