The Brazilian star is linked with a move away from PSG this summer.

Former Paris Saint-Germain player Thomas Meunier has suggested Neymar would benefit from leaving Parc des Princes.

The Brazil international became the world’s most expensive player when he joined PSG on a €222m move in 2017. He signed a contract extension last year that guarantees his stay at the French side for four more years.

However, reports have emerged of PSG’s interest in selling Neymar ahead of the next season. While the former Barcelona star has denied any intention to leave the club, Menier believes his former teammate is better off elsewhere.

“I have to admit that I was a big fan of Neymar when he was still playing at Barcelona,” the Borussia Dortmund defender told Kicker.

“In Paris, however, he lost his magic, from my point of view.

“The comeback is all about him. If I was 10, I would have had his poster in my room.”

‘I want to stay’

Chelsea have emerged as a possible destination for Neymar after the Blues’ failure in signing Raphinha. However, the Brazil star has claimed to be unaware of PSG’s intentions of selling him.

“I want to stay at Paris Saint Germain,” Neymar told AFP earlier this week.

“No one from the club told me anything about the plans for my future, as things stand.

“I don’t know what kind of plans they have for me – I want to stay.”
