The Poland international is thrilled to be playing in the same domestic competitions as the rising star that is the Norwegian hitman.

Erling Haaland was named as this year’s Golden Boy – an award that recognizes Europe’s finest talent under the age of 21.

The Borussia Dortmund man beat off competition from the likes of FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, and his teammate Jadon Sancho for the prestigious prize.

After joining BVB from RB Salzburg last season, he took Bundesliga by storm as he netted a hat-trick on his debut despite coming on as a substitute in the 56th minute against Augsburg.

The 20-year-old finished 2019/20 with an outrageous tally of 44 goals and 10 assists in 40 games.

Haaland has continued that red-hot form in this season, being a constant bright spark in what has been a subpar season for his side.

Having already scored 17 goals in his opening 14 games, the young Norwegian is fast becoming the mainstay in the BVB team.

A man who once did that job eloquently for years and guided them to back-to-back Bundesliga wins and a Champions League final has congratulated Haaland on his achievement.

“He deserves it,” Robert Lewandowski told, via Football Italia. “I am happy he is playing here in Germany, it will be very interesting to see this confrontation between us.”
