As part of his birthday celebration, Eden Hazard offered an interview in which he opened up about his biggest idols and his retirement plans.

Eden Hazard is a player who also has idols in his professional career, he just revealed who they are as part of his birthday celebrations. That’s right, Hazard turns 30 today as a Real Madrid player and still with pending assignments. One would think that the obvious choices for idols in a player like Eden Hazard are easy to spot.

He already mentioned Zidane or Thierry Henry in an interview. But there is one former player we didn’t expect Eden Hazard would mention. You’ll be surprised he admires none other than Juan Roman Riquelme. It’s no surprise to us because the Argentine has a long list of admirers. But to those who don’t expect it, Eden Hazard explains the reason he has Roman as one of his idols.

Hazard also talks about retirement.

During an interview picked up by AS, Eden Hazard said the following: “I would like Zidane’s class,” he responded. “Although I have class, no? But him, he has more. If I hadn’t been around Zidane and Thierry Henry, I would have mentioned them. But a player I have never met would have to be Riquelme. I saw all his videos when I was younger. Yes, I’d like to meet him on a pitch or just talk to him. That would be great.”

“We will see if the body leaves me alone [after some injuries],” he added. “If the injuries pile up, I won’t make it to 35. We need to have fun. The older you get, the more you need to have fun, right? That’s what I need. I’ll always be in football, but I might not be a professional.”
