The German star has emerged as a serious option for Real Madrid’s attacking line.
Real Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Chelsea over a move for Kai Havertz.
The unexpected departure of Karim Benzema has forced Real Madrid to consider signing a new forward. As of now, Havertz remain the club’s top-priority signing for the summer transfer window.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea are open to selling Havertz this summer. The Sky Sports journalist claims a €50-60m offer plus add-ons could bring the 23-year-old to Santiago Bernabeu.
German outlet Bild has gone as far as saying Havertz’s move is imminent, with Chelsea being “very close” to accepting Real Madrid’s offer.
Havertz arrived at Chelsea on an €85m deal in 2020.
The German forward was a key player for the Blues as they won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel a year later. But most observers believe the former Bayer Leverkusen star is yet to reach his full potential.
In his 139 appearances for the Blues, Havertz has registered 32 goals and 15 assists. The German star’s link-up with other forwards could benefit Real Madrid, who might play without a classic No.9 next season.
The Blancos are also keen on adding Harry Kane to their squad. But Tottenham are eager to keep the experienced forward amid interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
