Harry Kane has seen off the competition from Mohamed Salah to win the 2020/21 Premier League Golden Boot award.
Harry Kane notched his 23rd goal of the season as Tottenham won 4-2 away at Leicester to ensure they finished above Arsenal and in seventh place, earning them a spot in the inaugural Europa Conference League.
Meanwhile, Salah was unable to score at home to Crystal Palace, though Liverpool claimed a crucial 2-0 victory, which saw them finish third and earn a Champions League spot alongside Chelsea.
It means Kane has now won the prestigious award three times, adding to his 2015/16 and 2016/17 triumphs.
With one game remaining, the battle had dwindled down to a two-horse race, with Kane and Salah equal on 22 goals, sharing exactly the same goal-per-minute ratio, despite the latter playing two games more.
Though Kane had 13 assists to his name – which he made 14 against Leicester – as opposed to Salah’s four, the Golden Boot was to either be won or shared, with assists not a determining factor in the standings.
And Kane made sure of the victory with a stunning first-half strike against Leicester, powerfully volleying Son Heung-min’s deflected cross through the legs of a helpless Kasper Schmeichel.
The achievement could be a fitting finale in perhaps Kane’s last-ever game as a Tottenham player, with the England captain heavily linked with a move away from the club.
