Despite failing to report back for pre-season training once again, Harry Kane intends to return to Tottenham.
Harry Kane plans to return to Tottenham by the end of the week after missing training on Tuesday for the second day in a row.
The 28-year-old has failed to show up at the club’s Enfield-based training ground since his summer break ended. The club had him scheduled for a series of tests on Monday involving his fitness and a routine COVID-19 check. He was supposed to rejoin the squad for training on Tuesday.
But Kane has refused to return to Hotspur Way so far to allegedly force a move to Manchester City, who had a £100 million offer turned down for the striker in June.
His actions have left Spurs ‘disappointed’ and the London club could fine him as a punishment. Chairman Daniel Levy is aware of Kane’s desire for a new challenge and intends to hold face-to-face talks.
That said, The Telegraph has stated that Spurs expect Kane back by the end of week – possibly at the weekend – to begin preparations for the new season.
The Athletic has added that Kane feels his no-show for training has been ‘blown out of proportion’. The Englishman reckons he had already communicated his plans to the club. But Spurs evidently don’t feel the same way. The board is ‘furious’ over how things have played out and insists no explanation was given.
Despite these recent events, along with an alleged gentleman’s agreement with Kane, Levy still doesn’t wish to sell his star forward.
City, meanwhile, are in talks with Aston Villa to sign Kane’s England teammate Jack Grealish for £100 million.
Pep Guardiola’s side remain interested in uniting the Three Lions duo at the Etihad this summer. But Levy values Kane at £150 million and has no intention of changing his stance.
