The Spurs striker scored twice for Tottenham as they returned to winning ways in the Premier League.

Harry Kane says his penalty miss in England’s World Cup loss against France motivates him to claim trophies.

The experienced striker had a chance to bring England back into the game when they were 2-1 behind against France in the quarter-finals.

But he hammered his shot over the crossbar as England suffered another tournament heartbreak in Qatar.

Kane, however, has managed to regain his form quickly since returning to London after the World Cup. He scored twice for Tottenham in their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

“It was a tough moment for me,” Kane told Standard Sport when asked about the penalty. “It’s never an easy thing to go through, but it’s part of football, part of the highs and lows of our sport.

“I had a bit of time away after, just to reflect, and it’s made me even more hungry to come back and be successful.

“So nights like last night [Spurs’ victory at Palace] are always good for me and the team, and it was much needed after the last couple of results as well.”

He added: “It’s something you have to deal with. I’ll probably remember it for the rest of my life, but that’s part of the game. It’s not going to affect me as a player or as a person.

“I’ll keep working hard to improve and it was nice to get our first win since coming back [at Palace].”
