England captain Harry Kane says Mason Greenwood has shown immense quality in training with his all-round skill and precision in front of goal.
Mason Greenwood made his quality known at Manchester United and has started in good ‘form’ for England.
The 18-year-old impressed in his breakthrough season for the Red Devils. He bagged a laudable tally of 17 goals in all competitions.
It came as no surprise Southgate handed Greenwood his first international call-up ahead of England’s Nation League games against Iceland and Denmark.
The teenager recently expressed his desire to challenge for a regular spot in the Three Lions squad. It’s not impossible but pretty difficult with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Danny Ings and captain Harry Kane upfront.
It might only be a matter of time before he gives Southgate room for thought. Harry Kane reveals the youngster has caught the eye of everyone in training with his displays.
“Mason’s been great since the first training session we had. You can tell he’s full of confidence as a player, not afraid to shoot, not afraid to take players on and that’s exactly what we want,” Kane said on England duty as quoted by Metro.
“He’s obviously done great for his club in the period after lockdown especially and it’s great to have him in the team.”
“As a goalscorer, people use the phrase “natural goalscorer” and I guess it’s just one of those things you work on a lot, being in the right place at the right time. ‘Some of it is just instinct, balls dropping to you in the box and being able to finish it.”
Some already think Greenwood should be no 2 right after Kane upfront for England.
