Jordan Henderson reflected on another poor outing at Anfield as Liverpool were beaten 4-1 by rivals Manchester City.

Jordan Henderson gave his thoughts on yet another disappointing loss for the reigning champions at Anfield.

Ilkay Gundogan’s opener was canceled out by Mohamed Salah before City then turned the game around in their favor.

A couple of misplaced passes from Alisson Becker gifted Gundogan and Raheem Sterling the chances to increase the tally.

Phil Foden later blasted in a fourth to complete the 4-1 rout for Guardiola’s men.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says he is disappointed with the result but urges his side to pick themselves up immediately.

“Yeah, very disappointed with the result, of course. The end result I didn’t really think reflected the performance, to be honest,” he said as per the club’s website.

“But [we] made mistakes in the wrong moment and we got punished. City are a very good side, especially going forward, and they punished us when we did make the mistakes.”

“But, overall, I think actually if you look at just the performance, I thought the performance for the majority of the game was pretty good. [We] competed really well, it was more like the performance we’re used to. But, like I say, in the wrong moment mistakes cost us.”

Liverpool take on Leicester City next in the Premier League, and Henderson has called on his side to bounce back and return to winning ways.

“When you get beat it’s always disappointing, especially in the manner we did in the end. It’s never nice,” he continued.

“It’s hard to take now, but in football you’ve got to move on quickly. We’ve got a full week to get it out of our system, train properly – which we haven’t had for a while. So we need to use it the best we can this week to get prepared for a tough game against Leicester.”

City have now opened a 10-point gap over Liverpool and are looking like runaway title winners. However, Henderson says he isn’t interested in the title conversations at the moment.

“Again, I remember last season you kept asking me when we were top of the league – we don’t look at the league, now especially,” he concluded.

“You concentrate on the next game and just try to win every single game you can, like we always do whether that’s when you’re on top or you’re fourth or fifth or whatever it is. You’ve just got to concentrate on the next game and put in performances as much as we can.”
