Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood turns 19 today and we take a brief look at his meteoric rise as we celebrate with him.
In the space of one year, Mason Greenwood has seen a meteoric rise to stardom with Manchester United.
The Red Devils academy graduate made his debut for the club in their last game of the 2018/19 season. United lost 2-0 to Cardiff on that occasion but the teenager was one of the positives from that game. Being only 17 at the time, he also became the club’s youngest starter in the Premier League era.
The 2019/20 season would prove to be the turning point for Greenwood. The youngster fully joined the first team setup under Solskjaer and took his chances brightly.
In all competitions, the teenager impressed on all fronts and recorded an impressive 17 goals in his first full season.
It was no surprise to see him get an England call-up from Gareth Southgate last month.
For his technique in front of goal, Greenwood has drawn comparison to Van Persie and has received praise from a number of top names.
So far, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the forward as a ‘perfect’ star in the making but warned he must improve on one aspect of his game; his heading abilities.
