The Tunisia international is set to spend the remainder of the season in La Liga.

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri is close to completing a loan move to Sevilla.

Mejbri has made nine appearances for Manchester United this season, including one start in the Premier League. However, the Red Devils have reportedly agreed to loan him out in the current transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla, who have been eyeing a move for Mejbri since August, are close to signing him. The two clubs are reportedly negotiating over the contract’s final details regarding possible buy-back and permanent purchase clauses.

Last week, Tunisia manager Jalel Kadri confirmed that Mejbri has decided not to participate in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“Hannibal told me that he did not feel ready for the Africa Cup of Nations because he is going through an important situation at his club,” the manager said.

Freiburg and Lyon were also in the transfer race to sign Mejbri, but the prospect of playing in La Liga has seemingly convinced the youngster to continue his career at Sevilla. The Spanish side have reportedly told the player’s entourage that they need him during the AFCON.

Sevilla currently sit 16th on the La Liga table, only a point away from the relegation zone. Mejbri could make his La Liga debut when Quique Flores’ men take on Alaves in their next league game on January 12.
