Erling Haaland was left with the feeling of having not done enough after his side missed out on a silverware-winning chance.

Bayern Munich emerged 3-2 victorious against Borussia Dortmund in what was a closely contested DFL-Super Cup final.

The Bundesliga champions were already in advantage when the first half ended, courtesy of Thomas Muller’s goal after Julian Brandt had canceled out Corentin Tolisso’s opener.

Erling Haaland level the scoreline yet again and it remained so until very late in the match when Joshua Kimmich’s marvelous chip over Roman Burki with 82 minutes on the clock proved to be the winning goal.

Wednesday night saw Bayern pick up their fifth piece of silverware of the year after the UEFA Super Cup, Champions League, DFB-Pokal, and Bundesliga.

Dortmund, on the other hand, after finishing second in the Bundesliga last season, missed out on yet another chance to win a trophy.

“It hurts that we lost,” Haaland said, via Goal. “We could have won the game, it’s a bad feeling because we were close.

“I should have scored another goal.”

Sharing his teammate’s sentiments, Brandt added: “The disappointment is there, of course. You want to win every game and take away every title.

“It was a good performance where we can take a lot with us.”
