Egypt kept their AFCON dreams alive as Mohamed Salah scored a crucial winner at the Roumde Adija Stadium.

Egypt defeated Guniea-Bissau 1-0 in their Africa Cup of Nations game on Saturday. The Pharaohs bounced back from their defeat against Nigeria as they secured a vital victory against Guinea-Bissau.

Salah makes a difference!

Egypt started the game as the dominant side and kept their opponents under pressure during the first half. However, they were not able to break the deadlock until nine minutes past the hour-mark.

Following a brilliant pass from Amr El-Sulya, Mohamed Salah volleyed the ball past Jonas Mendes to open the scoring. Egypt continued their attacks to extend their lead while remaining cautious about their opponents’ counter-attacks. But, they found it hard to get past Guniea-Bissau’s solid defence.

Egypt were stunned by conceding an equalizer in the 82nd minute. However, the referee disallowed the goal upon review by VAR.

Salah’s goal was enough for Egypt to secure a second spot in the group. The Pharaohs will meet Sudan in their last group-stage game while Guinea-Bissau face group leaders Nigeria.
