The Man City striker has struggled to continue his goalscoring momentum in recent weeks.

Manchester City players need to provide Erling Haaland with more goalscoring opportunities, according to Pep Guardiola.

Haaland has registered 32 goals in his 32 appearances for Man City this season. However, the Citizens’ struggle for consistency seems to have affected the striker’s form.

The 22-year-old didn’t find the back of the net in City’s 1-1 draws against Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig. The Norway international’s performance in the Champions League saw him make only 22 touches at the Red Bull Arena.

Guardiola, however, has dismissed criticism toward Haaland, saying: “That is our fault, Erling has been impressive for us all season.

“I don’t need numbers or metrics, I know immediately after the game who has been involved and who has not.

“Yes, of course, it depends on us. We need to look for him a little more.”

The draw against Nottingham Forest saw City slip back to the second spot on the Premier League table. As Guardiola’s side prepare for their next league game against Bournemouth, they might have to play without Kevin De Bruyne due to injury.

After Saturday’s match, Man City will take on Bristol City in FA Cup’s fifth round.
