Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer is still nursing a hamstring injury and will play no part in the upcoming Liverpool tie.
Sergio Aguero has been out of action for Manchester City since picking up a knock in the 1-1 draw at West Ham last month.
Aguero had also missed the start to this season with a knee injury and after suffering yet another setback just a week into his return, he was forced to stay out of the Marseille, Sheffield United, and Olympiacos games.
It was expected that he would make it back in time for the crunch clash against Liverpool, but Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the striker remains unavailable.
“Sergio is not ready. Not yet,” Guardiola informed during his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match.
Jurgen Klopp recently insisted that the fixture between Man City and Liverpool is “the most difficult game in the world of football.”
“Absolutely,” responded Guardiola when asked if he holds the same opinion as of his opposite number. “Not all the time – but 90 or 95% of the time – I agree with Jurgen.”
He added jokingly: “It’s an important game but, like the presidential election in America, all the votes must be counted. [There are] a lot of points to play for [in the title race].”
