You don’t just casually find a player with the potential to become a legend under a rock, you gotta do your homework for it. Even though Manchester City has been linked with the possible signing of Erling Haaland, Guardiola doesn’t have a clear idea of what could happen.
He knows Mino Raiola too well to think he won’t go after the biggest payday, which is the reason he doesn’t have high hopes. With the global pandemic still raging in several parts of the world, all football clubs that spend too much money will be judged. Pep knows Manchester City needs to be resourceful and smart about the way they go about spending their money. If they need to be patient and not sign a striker this summer, so be it.

His recent statements seem like the Citizens won’t go crazy over Erling Haaland as other clubs are willing to do it.
The biggest issue is the price-tag that the best players in the market have right now, as he said via the club’s website: “With the economic situation of the football world now, there’s a bigger chance that we won’t get a great striker this summer. With the current prices, we will not buy any strikers, it’s impossible. We cannot afford it, all the clubs are in financial difficulties, even us.”
