Manchester City have struggled for form all season ahead of the winter transfer window, but Guardiola doesn’t view new additions as a must.
Pep Guardiola is happy with his Manchester City squad and has no plans to bring in any new signings once the January transfer window opens.
The Citizens have experienced an unusual start to their current Premier League campaign, sitting down in 14th after eight matches. Joint-leaders Tottenham and Liverpool, in fact, are already eight points ahead.
But while City have a game in hand, they’ve squandered valuable points this season with only three wins so far. It’s prompted rumors Guardiola may seek to reinforce his options for the second half of the campaign.
“No, not at all. I have a fantastic team to fight for all the titles,” said the City boss on the club’s website.
Guardiola also paid tribute to John Stones after City’s 1-0 win over Olympiacos in Greece during a midweek Champions League encounter.
The 26-year-old defender, who has suffered his fair share of injuries during the past year, made his second successive start and produced a solid all-round display.
“The guys who play good, they continue to play,” said Guardiola.
“The guys especially at the back who don’t make mistakes – everyone makes mistakes – but the [guys who don’t make] mistakes that cost a lot, they have more chance to continue in the team.
“And the guys up front who score goals, they have more chance to continue in the team. I try to judge players in the present. John [Stones] played very well, and I am especially happy for John because he is a special guy for me.
“We arrived here together, we spent lots of time together, he was injured and had personal issues but now he is settled again. He is confident. He will have chances to show his quality in this team.”
Guardiola and City will be in action on Saturday afternoon in a Premier League match at home to Burnley.
