Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has poured cold water on transfer rumors linking Harry Kane to the Premier League champions.

There is ‘more chance’ that Manchester City won’t sign a new striker this summer, says Pep Guardiola.

With Sergio Aguero having joined Barcelona, a replacement for their all-time record scorer is said to be on City’s list of priorities. The Citizens reportedly lodged a £100 million bid for Harry Kane last month. It’s alleged several players, including Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, were offered to Tottenham as part of the deal.

Aside from the Spurs frontman, Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is also reportedly on City’s radar for this summer.

“At these prices, we are not going to buy any strikers, it is impossible, we cannot afford it. It’s impossible,” Guardiola told TV3.

“All clubs are struggling financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel [Jesus], Ferran [Torres] who has been incredible in this position. We have young players in the academy, [and] we play many times with a false nine.

“I don’t know what is going to happen. Maybe we’re going to buy but maybe we’re not going to buy a striker for next season. Today there is more chance we will not buy a striker for next season.”

Guardiola also refused to discuss rumors linking City with a move for Barcelona full-back Sergi Roberto.
