Pep Guardiola has offered his support to Frank Lampard and shared his thoughts on Chelsea’s decision to sack the 42-year-old.

Pep Guardiola says managers are now in tough positions and know they will get the sack if they don’t deliver instant results. This comes in the wake of Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Frank Lampard.

After only 18 months at the helm of affairs, Frank Lampard was given his marching orders by Chelsea on Monday afternoon. The 42-year-old is set to be replaced by ex-PSG and Borussia Dortmund boss in Thomas Tuchel.

Guardiola has offered words of support to Lampard and says the game is now all about producing results or getting the sack.

The City boss has never been sacked in his 12 years of management but insists he has never for once taken his position for granted.

“Young and old managers – here you have to win” Guardiola said as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“The people talk about projects and ideas but it doesn’t exist. You have to win, if not, you will be sacked.”

“I respect the decision from Chelsea, of course, but a huge hug for Frank and hopefully I can see him soon. When the lockdown will be over I can go to the restaurant to see him again.”

“He was appointed at a team like Chelsea after the good job he had done at Derby County, these people deserve it. But we depend on the results, not the way we play, not about philosophy or these kinds of things or the projects.”

“You have to get results. If you don’t, you will be replaced by another manager.”

Guardiola enters his fifth year as Manchester City boss and that means his current job is the longest he has ever stayed at a single club.
