The Manchester City boss is pleased with how his side performed in Europe and is ready to turn his focus back to domestic matters.

Pep Guardiola plans to revert Manchester City’s priority ‘100%’ back to the Premier League after sealing top spot in Group C in the Champions League.

The Citizens grabbed the all-important point against FC Porto in Portugal on Tuesday night to confirm their status as Group C winners by settling for a 0-0 draw.

Now Guardiola plans to ease off the gas in Europe and focus on getting City’s league campaign back on track, with the club’s last-16 tie to not take place until February.

“Incredible congratulations to the team for this group stage… We played incredibly well,” Guardiola told BT Sport after City’s 0-0 draw in Porto.

“We didn’t concede one corner or one shot on target in Europe away against Porto, who alongside Benfica, are the best team in Portugal with an incredibly physical team.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t score, but we created chances with set-pieces and actions and all the players were fantastic, starting with Edie (Ederson) and finishing with Phil [Foden].

“We came here to finish first, we played for a win [against Porto], we deserved to win but in football, deserved or not deserved are just fake words. At the end, the results dictate everything, but we played to win the game.

“The shots, maybe not all on target, but we were there all the time. It’s difficult with eight or nine players defending in the box, defending crosses and everything… Now we can focus 100 percent in the Premier League.”

Guardiola will probably field a heavily rotated squad for City’s last Group C match at home to Marseille next Wednesday.

The six-time English champions, meanwhile, will next face Fulham on Saturday and hope to build on last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing of Burnley.
