The Man City boss says Pochettino is a great manager despite his lack of trophies.

Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solksjaer on Sunday. The Red Devils have started their search for a new manager, considering several coaches for the job.

In recent days, several sources have claimed PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is the Red Devils’ top candidate to replace Solskjaer. Other outlets have gone as far as to claim the Argentine is interested in leaving his current job for a Premier League return.

However, before all that, Pochettino’s side must battle it out against one of the best teams of the English top-flight. PSG will face Manchester City in a crucial Champions League game on Wednesday. In a pre-match press conference, Pep Guardiola praised Pochettino for his qualities as a top manager.

“I am sure managers are better every year. Every season you have a lot of learnings. I am pretty sure he is an excellent manager,” he said.

“You can be a top manager and not win titles. For the managers who have a chance to win is because you are at top clubs, with good investment and top players. That doesn’t mean managers in the Championship or not at the top of the Premier League aren’t excellent managers.”

PSG have the chance to leapfrog Man City from top of the Group A standings with a victory. The Citizens, however, need only one point to secure their place in the next round.
