After ending the winning streak, Pep Guardiola gave his verdict on Manchester United’s actual chances to win the title this season.

Even though they are still eleven points behind, Pep Guardiola still thinks Manchester United has a chance to win the title this season. If they had won the game last Sunday, perhaps he would think differently. However, Pep finally realized that his squad is by no means invincible against a powerful club like United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a good record against the Catalan manager since he started playing against the Citizens.

Out of the eight times they faced each other, Ole has four victories, three defeats, and one draw. The Norwegian coach is one of the managers with the best record against the Manchester City boss. But the most impressive aspect of this record is that three of those four victories came at Etihad Stadium. No wonder Guardiola thinks Manchester United can still win the tournament. However, City might still lift the title by the end of the season if nothing strange happens.

Pep sends a warning about Man United.

“Yeah, of course. When the option is open anything can happen in football,” said Pep via Sky Sports. “Nobody thought we could win 21 games in a row or 15 games in the Premier League, so anything can happen. I absolutely agree. For people like United, they can do it. We have 10 games left and we’ll have to win six or seven games to be champions mathematically. It was a mixture of disappointment and sadness. The second day was a bit better and today they were completely on fire to try and play a good game tomorrow against Southampton.

“It’s a normal process when you lose a game, the reaction is common. I think everyone realized how difficult it is to win games, to do good things and go on good runs. United are a top side and top club with a good manager and good players, so it can happen. With the Premier League, it’s so complicated and so difficult. There’s still a lot of work to do to arrive in the last games to be in contention to win the Premier League. We are alive in all competitions, one final, and now the important part of the season arrives.”
