Pep Guardiola says his side have switched their focus to the Premier League after securing a place in the Champions League round of 16.
Pep Guardiola watched on as his side recorded yet another Champions League victory on Wednesday night.
Phil Foden scored the lone goal as City saw off Olympiacos 1-0 to maintain their 100 percent record in the competition with two games to spare.
It is the eighth successive year City have got through their group.
However, Guardiola must now turn his attention elsewhere. The issue for City now is kick-starting their Premier League campaign after a poor opening that has seen them win just three of eight games.
“We came here to get to the last 16 and we are there again, another year,” said manager Guardiola as quoted by the Independent.
“Now we recover as quick as possible and start focusing on the Premier League.”
City have faced problems scoring goals this term and Guardiola insists the goal will start coming soon enough.
“We were much more aggressive,” he continued.
“Everyone was so committed and we attacked with more desire to shoot, to score.”
“Unfortunately we could only score one goal but the team is alive. We made an incredible group stage. That’s 12 points so we are already qualified and are going to try to finish first.”
Guardiola will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Burnley on the weekend.
