A return to familiar surroundings has been mooted for the Spanish center-back who began his playing career with the Catalan giants.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has refused to rule out a January exit for Eric Garcia.

Garcia has entered the final six months of his contract with Man City having opted against signing an extension last year.

The defender is free to hold talks with other clubs, and he has reportedly already agreed to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with FC Barcelona.

It is understood that the La Masia graduate is Barcelona bound, and the only outstanding question is whether he will make the move this month or at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The 20-year-old Spaniard has not featured for the Sky Blues in over a month due to an injury sustained in the Champions League group stage clash against Marseille.

A positive COVID-19 test further delayed his return to action, but he is now in contention to play against Crystal Palace.

“I hope not, but maybe Barcelona knows better than me, I don’t know,” Guardiola said about Garcia’s potential move to Barcelona in his pre-match press conference, via Goal.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but maybe it’s going to happen.”
