The Portugal international provided the sole goal that helped his side get over the line in Saturday’s league fixture.

Bernardo Silva has been backed to have a “big season” by Pep Guardiola after he inspired Manchester City to a hard-fought victory against Leicester City.

Manchester City made it three consecutive Premier League wins after beating Leicester City 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.

In a high-class game that saw both teams get numerous chances, Bernardo was the star of the show and capped his brilliant display by putting the ball in the back of the net after it was spilled by Peter Schmeichel in an attempt to save Rodri’s shot.

The hosts had a goal by Jamie Vardy disallowed due to offside early into the second half, and they were unable to break the opposition defense thereafter.

“He played really well the last two games,” Guardiola said of Bernardo during his post-match press conference.

“I am pretty sure [he can have a big season]. It is not always the quality he plays with, he has an incredible work ethic.

“We are happy he is here and in the future we’ll see what happens.

“Today, the connection with Jack and Joao was brilliant. In general, it was all of them.”
