Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood is more than determined to secure a regular starting spot in the England lineup.

Mason Greenwood has already set his sights high after getting his first call-up from Gareth Southgate.

The Red Devils academy graduate impressed in his debut breakthrough season where he bagged 17 goals across all competitions. So far, he has received praise and plaudits from all over the place.

Post lock-down, the 18-year-old was one of the most prolific marksmen in the Premier League.

Those exploits saw Greenwood rewarded with a call-up from Southgate as England prepare for their League of Nations fixtures against Iceland and Denmark.

However, the United man faces stiff competition with the Three Lions’ squad boasting an ample number of forwards. Captain Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham and Danny Ings are all in contention for the centre forward role upfront.

Greenwood is the least experienced forward in the England setup but says he’s ready to compete with anyone.

“It’s a dream come true being selected for England, it’s every young boy’s dream,” said Greenwood via Sky Sports.

“I’m privileged and honoured to be selected. It’s a good group of lads and I’m just happy to be here.

“It’s good that everyone is pushing for places, it makes the training better.”

“There’s a lot of talent from England right now, in the Premier League and abroad, and the young lads are capable of doing it as you can see with the performances on the pitch.”

“It’s good to see all the young lads coming through and pushing for places.” Greenwood added.

“I feel ready to compete with anyone. Like in the league, I’ll just go out there with a smile on my face and just play football.”
