The Sky Blues are far from the reach of the Red Devils as a huge eight-point gap separates the two sides, but the youngster refuses to lose hope.

Mason Greenwood is hoping for Manchester City to “drop some points” as he is unwilling to admit defeat for Manchester United yet in the Premier League title race.

Greenwood was a standout performer as Manchester United sealed a 3-1 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford on the weekend. He put his side back on the front foot late in the game to cancel out James Tarkowski’s equalizer after he had opened the scoring early in the second half.

The 19-year-old now shares the record of being the teenager with most goals for United along with club legend Wayne Rooney.

The win helped Ole Solskjaer’s men close the gap on their bitter rivals, but that gap still remains sizeable.

Only six games remain for both teams to play before the campaign ends and it seems unlikely that the Red Devils can stop the Sky Blues from claiming their seventh league crown.

“You can never be sure – they might slip up. We have to concentrate on our next games,” Greenwood told Sky Sports.

“Anything’s possible, Hopefully, they [Manchester City] drop some points but we just have to keep focused on our games.”
