Spain defeated Greece with a 1-0 result in their World Cup qualifier on Thursday. La Roja secured their spot in the Qatar World Cup by beating the Greeks in a hard-fought match.

The hosts started to defend early on as Spain dominated the possession right from the start.
A foul on Inigo Martinez earned Spain a penalty kick in the 26th minute. Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the night by converting the spot-kick.
Spain came close to doubling their lead in the second half, but Greece’s backline was too good to be beaten again.
Sweden’s defeat against Georgia allowed Spain to leapfrog them on top of the Group B table. La Roja will face Sweden in their next game on Sunday, knowing a draw will be enough for their qualification.
