Jack Grealish is hoping to become a regular in the England national team as he admits to feeling honored after making his debut.

England churned out an unsatisfactory result in their Nations League match against Denmark on Tuesday night, being held to a 0-0 stalemate, but Jack Grealish was ecstatic after the full-time whistle nonetheless.

Grealish completed his first appearance for the Three Lions by the end of the match in Copenhagen, having replaced fellow debutant Kalvin Phillips in the 76th minute.

The 24-year old rose to prominence during the 2019/20 season as his impressive performances helped Aston Villa stay afloat in the Premier League.

Despite the midfielder’s exploits, Gareth Southgate initially left him out of his squad and only handed him his first senior call-up following Marcus Rashford‘s withdrawal.

Speaking after the match, the Villa skipper thanked his manager for handing him the opportunity to represent his country at senior level while also describing his feelings.

“I was actually a bit emotional. It’s something you dream of. Everyone dreams as a little kid of playing for England,” Grealish told Sky Sports.

“It was such a privilege coming on and it’s a shame we couldn’t get the win in the end. I want to thank Gareth [Southgate] for giving me the opportunity and hopefully, it is the first of many.

“I’m sure I’ll have a few messages but it’s obviously a brilliant day for myself and one of the best of my career so far.”
