Jack Grealish believes he can make rapid progress by playing alongside some of the best talents in the world in the England national team.

It came as a surprise for English supporters when Gareth Southgate left out Jack Grealish while announcing his initial squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark.

Grealish was arguably Aston Villa’s most influential player last season as the club avoided relegation from English top-flight.

The heroics of the Villa captain, who notched up 10 goals and eight assists across all competitions in 2019/20, saw him get linked with a move to Manchester United.

The 24-year old midfielder’s last season’s labor ultimately bore fruit as he recently earned his first senior call-up to the England national team.

On Monday, manager Southgate chose Grealish as the one to fill the voids created by the withdrawals of Marcus Rashford and Harry Winks.

Grealish is now looking forward to playing alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the players he usually goes up against in the Premier League.

“I believe in my own ability and I’m confident I can perform at the international level,” he told The Sun.

“When you look around the England squad, they are not just the best players in the country – they are the best in the world. I know I can become an even better player by learning from these amazing players.

“I want to show the manager what I’m all about, play to the best of my ability, and, hopefully, keep my place in the squad.”
