Los Blancos no longer have their La Liga title destiny in their own hands but their hopes of successfully defending the crown persist.

Real Madrid will be determined not to drop more points when they take on Granada at Los Carmenes on Thursday night.

The defending champions are five points off the top of the table at third place and will be looking to close off the gap against local rivals Atletico Madrid and leapfrog bitter rivals FC Barcelona.

Their opponents, who sit at tenth place with 45 points from 35 games, meanwhile, will seek to make their case stronger for a mid-table finish.

Granada vs Real Madrid Form

Diego Martinez’s side look out of shape heading into the match, having suffered defeat in eight of their last eleven games across all competitions.

Statistically, they have the worst defense in the the league this term with 57 goals conceded in 35 games and are without a single clean sheet in their last 11 outings.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are unbeaten in their last 15 matches but this stat hides the fact that they’ve been rather out of form in the last couple of matches. Having failed to win three of their previous five league games, they have dropped points at a pivotal stage of the season which could cost them the title.

The titleholders were held to a 2-2 draw against Sevilla last time out. It appeared they were set to lose all three points but Eden Hazard and Marcos Asensio found the net after coming off the bench to unsure a share of spoils.
