Premier League fans will finally be allowed to return to football grounds after latest coronavirus measures confirmed by Boris Johnson.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that the Premier League and outdoor sports in general will be able to welcome the return of fans starting the 2nd of December.

Spectators have sadly been unable to attend games since the coronavirus took a toll on global sports worldwide.

While some leagues have tried to ease in fans, the last time the Premier League saw spectators in stadiums dates all the way back to March.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the latest coronavirus measures to be taken via a virtual broadcast that was shared on social media as well.

As detailed by Sky Sports, only supporters from areas with Tier 1 and Tier 2 restrictions will be able to attend games. Those based in Tier 3 zones will continue to be shut out.

Clubs will only be allowed to welcome either 50 percent of their capacity back into their stadium, or a maximum of 4,000 people – whichever number is smaller. This applies to Tier 1 areas.

Clubs in Tier 2 areas are able to hold a maximum of 2,000 fans.

Brighton and Southampton are the only sides that will be allowed maximum fans.

Arsenal and Manchester United are some of the sides that already have protocols put in place for the return of fans. The Gunners even released a statement about this back in September.

It means Manchester United could host the first football match with fans on December 2 when PSG visit in the Champions League.

Arsenal plays at home to Rapid Vienna the following day and will also hope to return supporters to the Emirates for their Europa League tie.

This is a good sign football is gradually going back to ‘normal’.
