An initial 100-man list kick-starts the process of selecting this year’s best young player.
Tuttosport has released its first shortlist for this year’s Golden Boy award.
The Italian publication hands out the prestigious award to the best under-21 player of each calendar year. Several great players have won the award during the first stages of their careers, including Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney.
Last season, Barcelona youngster Pedri claimed the overwhelming majority of the votes. His incredible breakthrough season at Camp Nou saw the Spaniard establish his reputation as one of the most promising young forwards in European football.
Pedri is once again in the running for the award, while his teammates Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, Alejandro Balde, and Ansu Fati have also made it to the list. Another notable nominee from La Liga is Real Madrid midfielder Edouard Camavinga, who joined the Blancos from Rennes last summer.
Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala and Borussia’s Jude Bellingham are also among the top favourites to win the award. From the Premier League, Harvey Elliot, Adam Diallo, and Anthony Elanga are included alongside Fabio Silva, Ki-Jana Hoever, Pape Matar Sarr, Yan Couto, Kacper Kozlowski and Joe Gelhardt.
