Hansi Flick is delighted with Serge Gnabry’s progression over the last few years and the kind of player he has blossomed into.

Serge Gnabry struck twice as Bayern Munich booked their place in the Champions League finals after beating Olympique Lyon 3-0 at Estadio da Luz on Wednesday.

Gnabry, who scored his first Champions League goal ever only this season, has now notched up nine goals in the competition, four of which came in the 7-2 rout of Tottenham back in October.

Overall, 2019/20 has been the most productive campaign of his career, having scored 23 goals and registering 14 assists across 45 matches in all competitions so far.

And Hansi Flick feels while the 25-year old still has room for improvement, he is fast becoming one of the world’s best players.

“When you see Serge’s development over the last few years, you have to say that he is close to a world class player,” Flick said in this post-match press conference, via Goal.

“We are very happy that he scored two goals and that we are happy to have him. He has tremendous qualities and I think he is far from the end of his development.”

Echoing his manager’s sentiments, Manuel Neuer also praised his teammate for his impressive development over the past few years.

“He is developing well. He had a lot of great moments, especially in the Champions League,” Neuer said of Gnabry.
