Felix Afena-Gyan will not be able to play for Roma in their next Serie A game.

Roma will face Bologna in their next league game on Wednesday. The Giallorossi hope to secure their third consecutive win, but they will have to play without a newly-discovered talent.

Felix Afena-Gyan has tested positive for COVID-19 and will move into isolation.

“Following the latest round of testing the first team squad, forward Felix Afena-Gyan has tested positive for COVID-19,” an official Roma statement reads.

“The club have informed the corresponding health authorities. The player, who has been vaccinated, is doing fine and has begun isolating at home.”

This is a major setback both for the team and the player. Afena-Gyan made his Roma debut against Geona last week, impressing with his brace that won the match for the Giallorossi.

The Roma starlet might have a chance to get his first national team call-up for Ghana. The Black Stars will play in the next year’s Africa Cup of nations. They will be competing with Morocco, Gabon, and Comoros in Group C of the tournament.

In case of a 14-day quarantine, Afena-Gyan can return to Roma training before their match against Atalanta on December 18. The player will most likely miss the matches against Bologna, Inter, CSKA Sofia, and Spezia due to being in self-isolation.
