Ghana have officially made contact with the family of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah over a possible switch of allegiance for the striker.

Ghana are stepping up their efforts to convince Nketiah to play for the Black Stars’ senior team.

Born to Ghanaian parents in London, the Arsenal forward is eligible to play for England and Ghana at international level.

Nketiah has already represented England at youth level and is a star for their U-21 lineup.

If anything at all, his recent increase in game-time for Arsenal has only increased Ghana’s interest in the youngster.

Ghana heightened their interest in Nketiah when they sent him a congratulatory message after the Gunners’ FA Cup win earlier this month. The Arsenal man was sure to reply with courtesy to that message.

And now it would appear the West African nation have made concrete moves to get the striker to their side.

“We’ve been able to talk to Eddie Nketiah’s parents. But even though we’ve tried, it doesn’t mean it’s a done deal,” Ghana coach CK Akonnor has told Starr FM.

“Myself and the Ghana Football Association are working hard at it.”

It would now be left to Nketiah to make his decision ultimately. The Arsenal man already has friends in the England setup and it would seem like a natural option for him.

But the question of game-time is one that is yet to be unanswered. Competition for spots in England is at the highest maximum but with Ghana, he would more or less be guaranteed a starting spot.
