The Ghana FA have officially appointed the Black Stars leadership for their upcoming tie against Nigeria.

Ghana sacked Milovan Rajevac after the Black Stars’ disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign. However, they did not have too much time to search for a new manager. The Black Stars must start their preparations for a two-legged World Cup Qualifier against Nigeria in March.

Ghana FA have now announced they have appointed Otto Addo as their interim manager. The former Borussia Dortmund assistant manager takes charge of the Black Stars while former Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton works as his technical advisor for the two games.

“Former Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has been appointed as Technical Advisor to the newly constituted Black Stars technical team led by Otto Addo,” the GFA has announced on their official website.

Ghana crashed out of the AFCON after finishing at the bottom of the Group C standings.

“Other members of the new technical team include George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. The 63-year-old will provide technical advice to the three-man team for next month’s Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off match against Nigeria.

The statement added:“The four-man team will take charge of the two matches against rivals Nigeria.”

The Black Stars will host Nigeria in the first leg of their World Cup qualifier on March 23. The two African giants will meet again in Nigeria six days later.

The tie’s winner will earn a spot in the next summer’s World Cup. Ghana FA will most likely decide on their new permanent coach following the second leg.
