The four-time world champions have lost two key men ahead of this month’s UEFA Nations League games.
Germany captain Manuel Neuer and midfielder Leon Goretzka have tested positive for COVID-19.
The German Football Association (DFB) confirmed the outcome of the Bayern Munich duo’s tests. Both players have left the team hotel as a result, leaving Germany in a late dash to find replacements.

“Leon Goretzka (27) and Manuel Neuer (36) tested positive for the Coronavirus on Wednesday morning,” a DFB statement read.
“Both national players from FC Bayern Munchen were isolated and will leave the team hotel. Due to a positive coronavirus test within one of the players’ private circles, the medical team conducted a rapid antigen test on the whole national team.
“All members of the coaching staff and the team are required to test negative before traveling. Confirmed contacts of both players will be tested daily.”
Hoffenheim keeper Oliver Baumann has joined Hansi Flick’s squad, and another player will likely be called up later on Wednesday.
Germany will face Group A3 leaders Hungary in Leipzig on Friday in the Nations League. They’ll then visit England at Wembley next Monday.
