Let us take a look at the UEFA Nations League’s Player Ratings of the Germany vs Switzerland match at Rhein Energie Stadion in Koln.
After a complicated victory against Ukraine, Germany had to face Switzerland in another UEFA Nations League match on Tuesday. This affair was much different compared to the previous one against their last rival. The Swiss were a much more complicated rival that made things extremely difficult for Joachim Low’s players.
Despite having the local advantage, Germany started the game with a disadvantage after an early opener scored by Gavranovic. A doubleheader allowed the visiting squad to get that first goal and gain more confidence. Twenty minutes after that, Seferovic led a counter-attack that Freuler finished with a beautiful dink over Manuel Neuer’s head.
But the German’s responded by pulling one back through Timo Werner after a connection with Kai Havertz. The game was already 2-1 in Switzerland’s favor and we were only past half-time. Actions for the second half promised a great show for every spectator.
Germany resists Switzerland’s attempts.
As the second half started, the first 15 minutes would bring us even more emotions than the first half did. Havertz tied the game after a defensive mistake from the Swiss. Gavranovic got to score his side’s third goal after a double failed attempt from Seferovic right in front of Manuel Neuer.
Only four minutes after that, Serge Gnabry scored one of the most beautiful goals of the day to tie the game. A backheel finish allowed Germany to get back into the game with 30 minutes left on the clock. Timo Werner assisted the Bayern Munich winger for that vital third goal.
The scoreboard remained like this for the rest of the 90 minutes. An unexpected result for Germany while playing at home that leaves them in second place of the group with 6 points.
