Germany started off as the better side while dominating the possession early on. However, they were not able to convert their chances, enabling England to gradually find their feet in the game.

The Three Lions made a few serious chances toward the end of the first half. But they couldn’t build on their newly-found rhythm after the interval.

Germany increased the pressure on their opponents’ backline, finally breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute. Following a fantastic through ball from Joshua Kimmich, Jonas Hoffman smashed the ball behind Jordan Pickford from inside the box.

England looked more and more dangerous in the final 20 minutes. Harry Kane had a golden chance to score the equalizer, but Manuel Neuer denied him with an incredible save.

However, Kane finally defeated the Bayern Munich keeper when he converted a penalty to make it 1-1 in the 88th minute. Having already replaced some of their key players, Germany were too disorganized to push for a match-winner in the remaining minutes of the match.
