The Portuguese manager started Ronaldo on the bench in his side’s shock defeat against Morocco.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina Rodriguez, has criticized Portugal manager Fernando Santos for his tactical decisions against Morocco.

Ronaldo started on the bench again for Portugal as Santos preferred to use Goncalo Ramos in his starting lineup.

The youngster, however, didn’t find enough chances to turn the game around when Morocco went ahead 1-0 in the first half.

Santos then brought in Ronaldo in the 50th minute, but Rodriguez believes it was too late for his partner to make an impact.

“Today, your friend and coach decided wrong,” she wrote on Instagram. “That friend for whom you have so many words of admiration, and so much respect.

“The same friend who, putting you on the field, saw how everything changed, but it was too late.

“You can’t underestimate the best player in the world and the most powerful weapon you have, just as you can’t stand up for someone who doesn’t deserve it.”

Ronaldo hoped to complete his career’s remarkable achievements with a World Cup title. But the defeat to Morocco most certainly ends his dreams of winning the title.

Having parted ways with Manchester United on mutual consent, the 37-year-old will now have to decide on his next club move.
