Despite a convincing 6-0 win over Genoa, Gennaro Gattuso is asking for more from his Napoli players and wants to see them improve.

Gattuso says his side’s big victory on Sunday evening did not exactly mirror their performances in the game.

Napoli were by far the better side as they strolled to an easy 6-0 victory over Genoa to continue their 100% record in the Serie A so far.

Rather than dwell so much on the result, Gattuso downplayed their achievements and was quick to mention the need for improvements.

“This result is very harsh and does not reflect the game,” he said on Sky Sport Italia.

“If Piotr Zielinski hadn’t scored 30 seconds after the restart, it would’ve been a very different match. We have to focus on improving and finding the right balance because we need balance in order to play this type of football.”

Osimhen was given his first start in a 4-2-3-1 formation, although it quickly moved back to 4-3-3 after Lorenzo Insigne’s injury. Gattuso hailed the impact of the Nigerian forward who grabbed an assist on the evening.

“We were lacking a player like Osimhen who could attack the space, so again today he didn’t score, but he created the situations that allowed others to score. His teammates are always seeking him out, so we’re very pleased with the way he is helping out.

“Insigne will have tests tomorrow, it was a muscular problem and he felt a pull in the flexor.”
