The former Tottenham and Leicester City star was full of praise for Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is the Premier League’s Player of the Season, according to Gary Lineker.

The 21-year-old England international enters the international break in excellent form, having supplied two goals and one assist in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

He now has double figures in the Premier League this season, with 12 goals and 10 assists in 28 games.

“Two goals and an assist for the irrepressible Bukayo Saka as Arsenal march on,” Lineker tweeted at the weekend.

“What a player, who, if we voted tomorrow, would get my vote for footballer of the year (yes, as a member of the Football Writers’ Association I do get a vote).”

Who won the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2021/22?

Last year, Mohamed Salah won the FWA Footballer of the Year for the second time in his career. The Liverpool forward topped the votes after making 37-goal contributions in 35 games, scoring 23 goals and supplying 14 assists.

He aims to equal Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record of three FWA Footballer of the Year awards this season.

Saka’s Arsenal teammates Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Thomas Partey may also be among the nominees for the 2022/23 prize.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, along with Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, are other likely contenders.
