Former England, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has retired from football.
After an illustrious 22 years in English football, Gareth Barry has decided to call it quits.
The 39-year-old spent the last three years at West Brom. He made a record 653 appearances in the Premier League and recorder 53 caps with England.
Barry came through the youth ranks at Brighton before joining Villa as a 16-year-old in 1997.
He made his first-team debut for Villa in May 1998, aged 17, and went on to make 441 appearances for the club. He then joined City in a £12m move in 2009.
Barry moved to Everton in 2013 initially on loan before the deal was made permanent. He then moved to West Brom in 2017 where he has spent the latter stages of his career till date.
Several of his former clubs paid tribute to him on a long-lasting career.
In total, Barry made 826 appearances in a senior career of more than 22 years. He scored 66 goals and recorded 59 assists in that time span.
