Despite Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s concern for his injury, Gabriel Jesus has suggested it may be a false alarm.

Gabriel Jesus has suggested his injury is not as big as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta fears.

On Tuesday, Jesus produced a match-winning performance to help Arsenal secure a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League. The striker set-up Gabriel Martinelli’s opening goal, before scoring a superb solo strike.

Toward the end of the match, though, Jesus came off. He went down with a possible hamstring injury. His withdrawal worried Arteta, who said it was out of character.

“He straight away asked to be subbed which is not good news,” the manager said to TNT Sports. “Gabriel is not a player who does that at all.”

Yet, while speaking to TNT Sports himself, Jesus appeared relaxed over his injury.

“I only get changed when it is something. I felt something,” the 26-year-old Brazilian said.

“I did some tests with the physio, looks not that big. But let’s see. I have a scan the next days, maybe tomorrow or the day after, let’s see how it is. But I’m pretty sure it will be nothing.”

Jesus missed the start of the season due to a knee problem sustained during the pre-season. He has made 11 appearances in all competitions and scored four goals.
