Liverpool make Bellingham a top target

Jude Bellingham has reportedly become a transfer target for Liverpool following his impressive progress at Borussia Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp has made the 18-year-old midfielder his top target and would sanction a club-record £80 million (€93.7m) fee. The Reds boss wants to strengthen his midfield and views Bellingham as an ideal fit. [Daily Star]

Chelsea’s transfer stance for Kounde revealed

The Blues could reignite their interest in Jules Kounde in the January transfer window after a failed summer bid.

Talks for the 22-year-old defender collapsed before this summer’s deadline day. Chelsea almost had a €50 million-plus add-ons agreement, only for Sevilla to change their stance. The Spanish side told Thomas Tuchel’s side to match Kounde’s €80m buyout clause after Kurt Zouma joined West Ham.

Therefore, Chelsea will only revisit their interest in Kounde in the new year if Sevilla drop their asking price to around €50m. [ESPN]

Arsenal really tried to sign Abraham

The Gunners wanted to sign former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham before his summer move to Serie A club AS Roma.

“Many clubs in England were asking for him, but Arsenal were really pushing to have Tammy Abraham,” Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano told his Here We Go podcast.

“They were trying to convince the player and to take his time before joining Roma because they were looking to sell maybe [Alexandre] Lacazette or maybe Eddie Nketiah to have a free slot for a new striker with Tammy Abraham.”

Lingard rejects Manchester United offer

Jesse Lingard has rejected a new contract offer from Manchester United.

The England international, who will be out of contract next summer, wants to see if he can get regular first-team opportunities at Old Trafford this season first before making a decision on his Red Devils future. [The Telegraph]

Ronaldo wanted to join Manchester City

Cristiano Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, allegedly favored a transfer to Manchester City this summer.

City manager Pep Guardiola was also keen, as he felt Ronaldo could supply over 40 goals a season. But the Citizens had to sell a forward first, something they failed to do in time. Therefore, Manchester United swooped in with a more lucrative offer and successfully convinced CR7 to return, with aid from Sir Alex Ferguson. [Guillem Balague]
