Manchester United’s Chris Smalling has not been training with the first team amid the uncertainty surrounding his future. Negotiations are ongoing between Man United and AS Roma over a permanent deal for the central defender. Inter Milan’s Diego Godin is ‘one step away’ from moving to Cagliari in a free transfer. Cagliari fended off competition from Rennes, among a number of other clubs, to sign the 34-year old center-back.

Martinez ready to quit Arsenal for Aston Villa.
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has agreed to personal terms with Aston Villa over a summer transfer. The 28-year old has been offered a four-year deal contract worth about €65,000 per week by the Villans.
However, the two sides still need to negotiate a transfer fee. Arsenal recently turned down an offer of about €16 million from Aston Villa. The Gunners value Martinez at around €22 million.[The Independent]
