Chelsea & Man City target future move for €90m defender

The Blues could make another attempt to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol in the January transfer window. They might be rivaled by reigning Premier League champions Manchester City though.

Despite reports of a €90 million bid from Chelsea last month, Gvardiol remains at Leipzig. The 20-year-old Croatian ended doubts over his future recently by signing a new Leipzig contract until 2027. [Evening Standard]

Ronaldo to Napoli was a no-go from the start

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has said there was ‘never anything concrete’ about Cristiano Ronaldo joining the Serie A club.

The 37-year-old remains a Manchester United player despite his alleged attempts to leave Old Trafford. Various reports had labeled Napoli as a potential suitor. However, while there were rumors of a swap deal involving Victor Osimhen, nothing came to fruition. [DAZN – in Italian]

Villa rejected three Arsenal bids for Luiz

Aston Villa rejected three bids from Arsenal for midfielder Douglas Luiz on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners launched a last-ditch effort to sign Luiz after a series of injuries left the club  with a lack of cover in central midfield. But Villa, who signed  Leander Dendoncker from Wolves, rebuffed them. [Sky Sports]

Ajax hold on to Kudus

The reigning Dutch champions rejected a deadline day bid of around £15 million from Everton for midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

Asensio decides to stay at Real Madrid…for now

Marco Asensio has decided to stay put at Real Madrid.
